LORETTA FRIESEN – AFT Music Instructor

Ever since she can remember, Loretta has been singing and playing piano. She had many opportunities to perform and was privileged to participate in a variety of choirs and ensembles in Winkler where she grew up. She started playing guitar as a teenager and enjoys the creative process of songwriting and arranging. Loretta earned her music degree at Canadian Mennonite University, and then went on to receive her Education degree at the University of Winnipeg. She certified in Level 1 Orff in 2010, and has been a guest clinician at several choral workshops in southern Manitoba. Loretta taught music and choir at Mitchell Middle School for ten years, where some of her choirs had the honour of performing with the WSO. In 2014, with the birth of her triplets, Loretta’s focus dramatically shifted. She is happy to say she has survived so far, and is starting to re-enter society. Currently she is subbing for Hanover School Division, finishing up her Post Bac degree, and teaching Arts4Tots music classes to preschoolers at the Steinbach Arts Council. Loretta lives in Mitchell with her husband Tom and their four children: Paxton (age 6), Zander, Myelle, and Tasha (age 3)..
